Thorium includes many accessibility features. Thorium contains most features required for ebook reading such as Bookmarks, annotations/highlights, text search, single page scrolling mode, two page layout, navigation using print page breaks, Table of Contents or scroll bar. Thorium Reader is a free ePub reader for Windows 10, MacOS, and Linux. Then you can open the PDF in the free version of Texthelp's OrbitNote, this version includes the text to speech option. If you do not have the paid version, you should request a PDF version of the file from the ICAM. Contact TextHelp for pricing information. Read & Write for Google Chrome: ePubs will work with the paid version of Read & Write for Google Chrome. The ePub will be opened in iBooks for use with the built-in text to speech option. IBooks: Using a cloud-based storage solution (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) you will transfer the ePub to your iPad. There is also a PDF showing how to Open and Edit a PDF from Google Classroom as a Student. There are many videos under the How-To Resources for Chrome Extension tab, including a video on how to open a PDF inside Snap&Read. Don Johnston has created several resources to assist the user in using Snap&Read. You can then annotate and use text to speech with the PDF. Snap&Read: If you have Snap&Read from Don Johnston, you can open the PDF from the Snap&Read extension. Read & Write for Google Chrome: ePubs will work with the paid version of Read & Write for Google Chrome. This text to speech reader allows you to listen to webpages, Google Docs, non-DRM ePub, and PDF's. NaturalReaderis a free app that is available in the Chrome Web Store. The app will allow you to open ePubs from Google Drive on the Chromebook and offers text to speech. Using the translation menu, you can choose the language you want, and then all pages will be automatically translated and read in that language.Dolphin EasyReader is a free app that is available in the Google Play Store. If the article isn’t in your native language, Google Assistant can tell your browser to read it out loud in 42 different languages. You can also change how fast it reads and pick from different voices. Your browser will automatically scroll the page and highlight words as they are read out loud, so you can follow along. If you have an Android phone and a web article is pulled up on your browser, you can say, “Hey Google, read it,” or “Hey Google, read this page,” and it will immediately read the content of the web page as if it was a podcast. The tool is called “Read it,” and it works within Chrome, the Google app, or the Google News app. Many are not aware, but Google gave us a very useful tool that allows us to multitask and read the web back to us in a surprisingly naturally sounding voice, while we are busy doing other things. Yet, we still have to manufacture somehow more time to keep up with friends, social media, and the news. Time is of the essence nowadays in this modern world where we are all either rushing to work or to our next appointment.
